Winner of DSCO 2023

Competing in the Data Science Olympics (DSCO) 2023 was a wild mix of excitement, stress, and growth. I’m beyond grateful for the chance to participate, let alone win 1st place in this competition, hosted by Binus University’s Data Science Club.

This wasn’t just about taking home a trophy. It was about pushing myself at every step. From doing Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), crafting a solid presentation, and then facing the most nerve-wracking part: standing in front of the jury and fellow contestants, presenting my work, and answering tough questions. It was intense, but also the best way to prove (to myself) that I could handle the pressure.

Finishing the analysis was one thing, but making it clear, engaging, and convincing was a whole different challenge. Data science isn’t just about crunching numbers, it’s about telling a story, and that’s where the real struggle kicked in. Turning raw data into insights and then presenting it in a way that actually made sense to the judges was tough. Add in the competition nerves, and yeah, it wasn’t easy.

Looking back, I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. Winning was amazing, but what really stuck with me was the process. The late nights, the brainstorming, the problem-solving, and the people I met along the way.
